Mission Statement

As a clinical social worker, my goal is to help people - individuals, couples, families, teams, organizations - achieve greater equilibrium in their lives and to build and strengthen bridges in important relationships.

J. Chris Barrilleaux, MA, MSW, LCSW, DAPA

Mr. Barrilleaux previously worked in the mental health / substance abuse fields since 1984 as a professional counselor and substance abuse counselor prior to becoming a social worker in 1998. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Louisiana. He also has the distinction of being named a Diplomate (DAPA) by the American Psychotherapy Association. He holds the Master of Social Work degree from Tulane University; and the Master of Arts degree in Theological Studies from Notre Dame Seminary having graduated magna cum laude in 1992 with a focus on Systematic Theology, Pastoral Theology, and Canon Law. Prior to that he completed a graduate curriculum in Psychological Counseling at Nicholls State University in 1986 where he focused on individual and family counseling and psychometrics, in particular Jungian typology. In 1982 he graduated from St Joseph Seminary College of Liberal Arts among the top in his class as a Philosophy major. He also studied music and sacred hymnody while at Notre Dame through the consortium with the Loyola School of Music, the pipe organ being his major instrument. His years of study and formation as a seminarian adds both depth and breadth to his social work mission, the ideological underpinning for which might be depicted as "wholeness as a path to holiness."

Mr. Barrilleaux has worked in a variety of professional settings in the last 25 years including Interventionist and Substance Abuse Counselor for the Baton Rouge Chemical Dependency Units, Inc; MSW team leader at Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff's Office; Outpatient Program Director at Odyssey House Louisiana; and as an LCSW in private practice since 2004. He is a qualified Mediator in the State of Louisiana, and a Divorce Coach and board member of the Collaborative Divorce Alliance of Greater New Orleans.
